Tours in Hamburg, Germany: Beatles International Recommends...

BEATLEMANIA, a newly opened 5-floor-Museum (address: Reeperbahn, Nobistor 10) dedicated to the Beatles and their career from the very beginning. Much attention is paid of course to the period they worked in the Sankt Pauli district of Hamburg. The museum is situated on the famous Reeperbahn, left from the (also new) Beatles Platz at the entrance of the Grosse Freiheit, the street where the Beatles played in the Indra Club, the Kaiserkeller and the Star Club.
This is a 'must do' tour through a very old but stylish equiped building.
You start at the entrance by taking the elevator to the 5th floor and from there on you work your way down through history, floor by floor. The walls are decorated with photographs, press cuttings, but also big copies of album sleeves. There is a room full of equipment that the Beatles used in the Abbey Road recording studios, there are quotes by friends (on various television screens) like Klaus Voormann. You can see the Bert Kaempfert office, lots of memorabilia and much much more.
On the 2nd floor you'll find a nicely decorated restaurant where you can have a small break, while enjoying a cup of tea/coffee and something to eat. On the 1st floor there's the gift shop where you can buy all sorts of Beatles memorabilia from bags to posters to mugs.

A lot to expect in 2010 – concerts, readings, films, special events and much more

New Year is traditionally a time for most people to come up with resolutions....and we at BEATLEMANIA are no different. We have entered the new year full of ambition and ideas, intent on making 2010 a year to remember. After all, 2010 is particularly significant for The Beatles and their special relationship with Hamburg. The month of August marks the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ first appearance on a Hamburg stage. BEATLEMANIA will host a series of exciting events and new, fascinating exhibitions to celebrate this jubilee.

BEATLEMANIA Hamburg

Autumn 2009 saw BEATLEMANIA Hamburg cement its reputation as a captivating live venue with shows by the Australian trio The Living End and Icelandic singer/songerwriter Helgi Jonsson. 2010 will continue the series of live concerts and autograph sessions at BEATLEMANIA. As well as vocal performances, you can look forward to literary highlights – kicking off with a reading from “Yeahsterday” on 27 March.

Klaus Voormann paved the way with his “A Sideman’s Journey” documentary: the Star Lounge on the third floor of BEATLEMANIA Hamburg is not only the perfect party location, it can also serve as a great little cinema. So you can expect regular film screenings throughout 2010.

Music is the food of love, and with so much variety for ears – and eyes - you are sure to work up an appetite. Luckily, the YEAH! Café has extended its repertoire to include a delicious brunch buffet every Sunday which you can tuck into before, during or after your visit. Or you can simply pop in to the YEAH!-Café without a full exhibition tour, as both the café and shop can be accessed without purchasing a ticket to the exhibition itself.

The exhibition halls themselves will be a hive of activity over the next twelve months: from the underwater experience in the Yellow Submarine, via an authentic coffee break in a 1960s living room to a lifesize John Lennon, its all here!

More reasons than ever before to call in on BEATLEMANIA Hamburg in 2010 – looking forward to seeing you!
